Howard Ross has Decades of Experience in Products Liability
Howard Ross is known to many of you from his proven record of successful verdicts and settlements, including seven-figure recoveries in medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, premises and products liability cases involving defective products causing serious injuries and wrongful death, including football helmet/quadriplegia, lead paint/brain damage, and airplane crashes/death.
Attorney Ross has four decades of experience in products liability cases including,
most recently, hip replacement cases involving Stryker, DePuy, and Biomet hip implants
which have required explant surgery due to metallosis and tissue destruction caused by these
manufacturers’ defective hip products.
THE DEFECT
Stryker Corporation recalled its Rejuvenate hip replacement implants in July of 2012.
DePuy/Johnson & Johnson and Biomet have recalled or agreed to pay compensation for their metal-on-metal hip implants as well. These implants were recalled because they corrode and cause a dangerous condition known as “metallosis,” which occurs when chromium and cobalt ions from the corroding metal in these defective products leach into the blood and tissue around the implanted products, causing tissue and bone necrosis (death). When metallosis occurs, tissue and bones that were healthy become severely damaged or die, and the implant may have to be removed from the femur and replaced with a safer hip prosthesis.
